The world frustrated
During our MD Phil Meek's trip in Italy, he got caught up in the riots in Rome. He comments" We have been somewhat isolated in Australia with the frustrations of Europe due to the GFC and its ramifications to the working men and women of Europe", he continues " The increase costs bought to bear on the average house in Europe to repay the countries debt such as university costs, superatunation, pensions and general cost of living is having its toll".
Phil comments further" In the eyes of the average worker, If I as a business owner went broke due to bad management, risk taking and even fraudulent activitly, why should they pick up the tab so to speak to refloat my business. This is a somewhat simplist example but seen by the large majority as what is happening to prop up the banks, insurance companies, investment institutions when they went bust"
He continues" I do not condon the violence and vandalisim I witnessed in Roma by, dear I say Football thugs, as the large majority of the protester were peaceful working men and women (alot together as families) letting thier government know how frastrated they were."
Phil sums up" Regardless of how big your business is.... your have a moral obligation to your staff, your customers, your shareholders and to the commuinity at large to carry out your business affairs honestly and with integrity.
